How to check a TESCO duplicate bill

1. 1Grab any recent bill, paper or PDF, and find the reference number printed near the top.
2. 2Type only the digits into the box above. Skip spaces, dashes, slashes and any U/R letter some printed bills show next to the number.

4. 4Match the consumer name, address, billing month, due date, meter reading and payable amount against what you expect before paying anything.
5. 5Print the page, save it as a PDF, or screenshot it — whatever your bank, landlord or own records need.

Before you pay

• Current and previous readings should make sense against the meter actually installed at your property, not just your memory of last month's bill.
• Units belong in comparison with last month and the same month last year, not only with the amount you expected to pay.
• Arrears should be traced back through your own receipts before you accept them as a new balance you owe.
• Taxes, the FPA and quarterly adjustments can move the total even when your units look completely normal.
• Your tariff category should match how the connection is actually used — this matters most for shops, rented units and mixed-use buildings.
• The same charge shouldn't appear twice in one bill, and a payment you already made shouldn't still be sitting in arrears next month.
